Ayurveda and its components



Ayurveda is a health science that uses all natural methods to maintain a healthy life and prevent stress and diseases by working on root causes. Ayurveda may be new to western societies, but it has been practiced in Asia for ages. Even in Arab culture a modified version of Ayurveda is practiced to heal different diseases and health disorders. We can see the same kind of treatment in Arab countries including Dubai. Ayurveda specialists are now acknowledged in the multi-cultural city and many expats are turning to them to take advice on, “how to live healthy even when it is impossible?”
Components of Ayurveda:
Lord Brahma has categorized Ayurveda into eight sub-branches or components better known as Ashtaanga (where Ashta means eight and Anga means branch) of Ayurveda. Here is the detailed list of all eight components of Ayurveda:
1.Kaaya cikitsa(general medicine):
Kaaya is described as general medicines use to treat different metabolic issues.  Kaaya also refer to the whole body and mostly cover the deficiency of vitamins, healthy fats, minerals, and everything human body crave for to stay healthy. Balanced kaya is needed for the body to perform all activities and in case it is disturbed, it can cause imbalance in homeostasis and physiology which itself is a disease.   At this stage, it is important to treat kaya using right remedies to bring back metabolic balance.
2.Baala cikitsa(paediatrics)
This component deal with problems related to childhood, adolescence, and infancy and treating associated problems. Baala refers to child and cikitsa refers to treating health disorders in children.
3.Graha cikitsa(idiopathic)
This component is dedicated to treating diseases acquired or inherited from unknown sources. In modern terminology, it is used to treat idiopathic diseases, in which there is impossible to detect the exact cause of disease.
4.Saalaakya cikitsa ( ophthalmology& otorhinolaryngology)
This component is associated to treat ear, nose, mouth and throat infections.
5.Salya cikitsa(surgery)
This component of Ayurveda treats problems and issues often caused by modern surgical processes. Also Salya Ayurveda Dubai, the focus is on diagnosis of inflammatory swellings often caused by surgery and medicines, and to treat them without causing further damage.
6. Vrsha cikitsa (reproductive medicine)
It will deal in diagnosing and treatment of bites of poisonous spiders, insects, and venomous worms. This component focuses on identifying symptoms and also creates antidotes to treat the poisonous sting, for instance, a person is affected by poisonous food, Vrsha cikitsa will offer right treatment to flush out toxins from man’s body.
7. Damstra Chikitsa or Agada Tantra (Toxicology)
This component deals with toxic elements such as vegetables, animals or minerals. This branch of Ayurveda also treats air and water pollution and illness caused by them.
8. Jara Chikitsa or Rasayana (Geriatrics, Rejuvenation)
Rasayana deals with strengthing the immune system and helps in promoting long and healthy life. It also offers ways and methods to achieve healthy body and beauty that comes from within.
